Engines Inboard & Outboard

Keep your engine turning. This collection gathers parts and accessories for inboard and outboard engines: throttle and gear control cables, kill cords and switches, outboard brackets, fuel system components, propeller hardware and the service items that keep petrol and diesel engines reliable season after season.

Marine engines live a harder life than any road engine - salt, damp, and long idle periods between weekends. The habits that prevent most breakdowns are simple: replace control cables at the first sign of stiffness, carry a spare kill cord (and always wear the one in use), and service on hours rather than instinct. If you're hunting a specific part, have your engine's make, model and serial number ready and we'll help you track it down.

Frequently asked questions

How often should outboard control cables be replaced?

Replace throttle and gear cables when they become stiff, notchy or corroded - typically every 5-10 years depending on exposure. A seized gear cable at the wrong moment is a genuine safety issue.

Why do I need a kill cord and a spare?

The kill cord stops the engine instantly if the helm goes overboard - it should be worn whenever the engine is running. A spare aboard means someone left on the boat can restart the engine to recover you.

What routine service does an outboard need?

Annually: change gearbox oil, replace the water pump impeller as scheduled, service or replace spark plugs and fuel filters, grease pivot points and check the anodes - plus fresh fuel or stabiliser after lay-up.
