Boat Paint & Marine Coatings

Fox's Chandlery is one of the leading boat paint suppliers on the East Coast of England, stocking the complete coating systems your boat needs from keel to masthead. The range covers antifouling paints, primers and undercoats, gloss topcoats and marine enamels, deck and bilge paints, yacht varnishes, thinners and preparation materials from International, Hempel, Seajet, Epifanes and other trusted marine brands.

The secret to a lasting finish is the system, not just the top coat: correct preparation, the right primer for your substrate, and compatible coats applied in the recommended windows. Tell us what you're painting - GRP, wood, steel or aluminium - and where the boat lives, and we'll help you specify the full system, including the right antifouling for East Coast waters.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I antifoul my boat?

Most boats in UK waters are antifouled once a year, before launching in spring. High-use or fast boats and those in high-fouling areas may need more frequent attention.

Can I paint directly over gelcoat?

No - gelcoat must be degreased, abraded and primed with a suitable primer before topcoat. Skipping preparation is the most common cause of paint failure on GRP boats.

What is the difference between hard and eroding antifouling?

Hard antifouling forms a tough coating suited to faster boats and those that dry out, while eroding (self-polishing) antifouling wears away gradually, continually exposing fresh biocide - ideal for cruising yachts.
