When you need light on a boat, you usually need it urgently - and dry. This collection covers waterproof marine torches, LED head torches that keep both hands free for the job, powerful searchlights and spotlights for pilotage and man-overboard situations, and cabin and utility lamps for below decks.

Marine-rated torches differ from hardware-store kit where it counts: sealed waterproof bodies, corrosion-resistant contacts, and in many cases floating designs so a dropped torch isn't a lost torch. A sensible boat carries at least three lights - a head torch for hands-free work, a waterproof hand torch in the cockpit, and a high-power searchlight for finding marks and moorings at night. Red-light modes are worth having too, preserving your night vision on passage.
