Skin Fittings

Every hole in the hull deserves respect, and this collection covers the fittings that make them safe: brass and bronze skin fittings from Guidi, stainless steel fittings with hosetails, TruDesign glass-reinforced composite thru-hulls in domed and recessed patterns, scoop strainers for engine intakes, plastic fittings for above-waterline drains, and the installation tools to fit them properly.

Material choice matters most below the waterline: bronze and DZR are the traditional standard, while TruDesign composite has become the modern favourite - immune to corrosion and electrolysis, approved to marine standards, and never needing bonding. Whatever you fit, bed it in the right sealant, back it with a proper seacock rather than a bare hosetail below the water, and inspect the lot at every haul-out.
