Sailing Footwear

Good footing is safety equipment. Our sailing footwear collection covers every deck and season: classic leather deck shoes from Dubarry and Chatham, technical sailing trainers, waterproof leather and rubber sailing boots, dinghy boots and aqua shoes for wet launching and watersports.

Every pair is built for the boat - razor-cut non-marking soles that grip wet gelcoat, drainage and quick-dry construction where you'll get wet, and waterproof breathable linings where you won't. Choose deck shoes or trainers for summer cruising, leather country-and-deck boots for cold passages and the pontoon, and neoprene dinghy boots where you're in and out of the water. Salt is hard on footwear: rinse in fresh water and treat leather regularly to keep boots supple.

Frequently asked questions

What makes sailing shoes different from normal trainers?

Sailing shoes use non-marking, siped rubber soles that grip wet decks, drain and dry quickly, and resist salt water - ordinary trainers are slippery when wet and their soles can mark gelcoat.

How do I care for leather sailing boots?

Rinse salt off with fresh water after sailing, dry away from direct heat, and treat regularly with a leather conditioner or the manufacturer's care products to keep the leather waterproof and supple.

Should sailing boots be a size larger?

Allow room for the thicker thermal socks you'll wear in cold weather - many sailors size up half a size in boots. Try them on with your usual sailing socks where possible.
