Shaft & Propeller Anodes
Protect the most expensive metal on your boat. Sacrificial shaft and propeller anodes corrode in place of your propeller, shaft and drivetrain, absorbing the galvanic corrosion that would otherwise eat into them. This collection includes shaft anodes in the full range of shaft diameters, prop nut anodes and streamlined designs to suit most installations.
Choose your anode material for the water you keep the boat in: zinc for salt water, aluminium for salt and brackish water, and magnesium for fresh water. Fit new anodes at every lift-out, and replace any anode that is more than half wasted - an exhausted anode leaves your running gear unprotected. If you're unsure of your shaft size, measure the shaft diameter with calipers or check your engine documentation.

Should I use zinc, aluminium or magnesium anodes?
Use zinc or aluminium anodes in salt water, aluminium in brackish water, and magnesium in fresh water. Using the wrong material either wastes too fast or fails to protect at all.
How often should shaft and propeller anodes be replaced?
Inspect at every lift-out and replace any anode that is around 50% wasted. Most boats replace shaft and prop anodes annually as a matter of course.
Why is my anode wasting away very quickly?
Rapid anode wastage usually indicates stray electrical current or a galvanic problem - such as a marina supply issue or poor bonding - and is worth investigating rather than simply fitting bigger anodes.
