What size hose clip do I need?

Measure the outside diameter of the hose when fitted over its tail, then choose a clip whose range brackets that figure comfortably - each JCS Hi-Grip size covers a span, so the measurement can sit mid-range. Below the waterline, fit two clips per connection with the screws staggered.

Are composite skin fittings as good as bronze?

Glass-reinforced composite fittings like TruDesign are approved for below-waterline use and remove corrosion and electrolysis from the equation entirely - many yards now fit them as standard. Bronze remains an excellent traditional choice; plain uncoated brass is the one to avoid below the water.

Can I use household plumbing parts on a boat?

It is a false economy - domestic fittings are not rated for sea water, vibration or the standards insurers expect, and household hose tastes and kinks. Marine fittings and the correct hose for each system (water, waste, fuel) cost little more and stay trouble-free for years.

Skin Fittings

Skin fittings are the components of a boat that allow the passage of water in and out from the hull. They provide a secure connection between a hose or pipe and the vessel, allowing for drainage of rainwater or seawater, as well as intake of cooling water for an engine.
