We’ve been around a while…

It’s fair to say that the range of sailing equipment and marine kit has changed a bit since we first opened our doors! Fox’s Marina was established in Ipswich in 1927 and Fox’s Chandlery opened its doors over 45 years ago, making it one of the oldest and largest chandlery and marine stores of it’s kind in the UK, with around 7,500 sq ft of retail space stocking over 10,000 products.

Fox's is a magnet for local boat owners and those cruising in the area and visitors are always assured of a very warm welcome, whether they come in just to browse or have a technical problem they need advice on. Over the years, we’ve got to know many of our loyal customers as friends, and it’s always a pleasure to see them and their children and, now, grandchildren returning to shop with us.

Who's in charge?

Our Manager, Tom Stewart, is a very keen cruising and racing sailor and a recent National 12 national champion, so he knows a thing or two about the right kit to buy and tuning boats for performance. Tom’s son Robert (aged 11) and daughter Isabel (14) are already proficient sailors and there’s nothing Tom enjoys more than sharing his expertise and experience as a ‘sailing dad’ with our customers and helping more families enjoy spending quality time together on the water.

We’re proud to be a privately owned, independent business and many of those in our team have been with us for over 20 years. Their product knowledge is unsurpassed and there really isn’t much they don’t know about our customer’s requirements, especially when it comes to their boats and sailing kit.

We stock every conceivable item of chandlery, the latest ranges of marine clothing, footwear and safety equipment as well as working electronics displays so you can try before you buy - we really do offer something for everyone.

Our prices are constantly under review and we offer regular promotions to ensure we provide our customers with value for money, all underpinned by great service and technical support.
